What clothes to pack for South America - The ultimate guide

Backpacking in South America is becoming increasingly popular and it is not surprising why, with the sheer diversity of landscape there is something for everyone to experience. You will be spoilt for choice between the sandy beaches of the Galapagos Islands, the dense jungle of the Amazon and the snow capped mountains of the Andes, However, having to consider the packing requirements for an assortment of weather can be quiet difficult. Ciarán and I definitely learnt the harsh reality of being under prepared for the cold when we first landed in Argentina. We spent a small fortune on warm jackets and fleece lined hats and gloves. This obviously isn't ideal when on a strict budget like we were. So, to help others from falling into the same trap that we did, I have put together a list of clothing and their links for ye to review in advance of your South American adventures

If my top picks about aren't to your taste, then just remember this one important tip " Layering is Key". Only pack clothes that are cool and breathable in the sun but warm and cosy when layered together in the cold. Happy Packing!
